The Logic — Why Drain First, Then Build
Drain first. Then build.
In that order — always.
Every tradition that works with the body says the same thing in different words: you cannot fill a cup that is already full of mud. This page explains the whole method — once you get it, everything else on this site makes sense.
Think of your body like a river.
Before you nourish it, the water has to flow. If the river is blocked and murky, pouring in fresh water just makes a bigger mess. Most people pour supplements into a blocked river for years — and conclude "nothing works." The river was never the problem. The order was.
Open
Get circulation moving so the body responds.
Release
Carry away built-up heaviness, puffiness, fog.
Regulate
Once the river flows, nourish, balance, restore.
Consolidate
Lock in the result so it stays through daily life.
Most everyday discomfort traces back to three roots.
Traditional wellness doesn't chase one symptom at a time. It asks: which root is loudest in you right now?
The heavy, murky river
Heavy body, puffiness, sticky digestion, foggy head, coated tongue. Dampness is the most common root of modern life — sitting, cold drinks, greasy food, worry.
- First job: drain it. Nothing else works until this moves.
The dry garden bed
Dry mouth, dry skin, warm palms, night sweats, restless sleep. If this is you, warming rituals (moxa, hot soaks) must wait — water the garden before you sun it.
- First job: Fluids Tea until no dryness, then warm.
The low current
Low color, low energy, afternoon slumps, always cold. This is the "build" phase — but it only holds if the river is already flowing.
- First job: drain first, then build — never the reverse.
Six ideas that run through everything we make.
Eat the rainbow, by organ
Green→liver, red→heart, yellow→spleen, white→lung, black→kidney. A traditional food map, not a diet rule.
Right thing, right hour
Each 2-hour window has a lead system. Warm breakfast 7–9am, foot soak 5–7pm, sleep by 11pm.
Essence · Energy · Spirit
Food, movement and rest build them; depletion drains them. The "why" behind the daily rhythm.
The mind is in the body
Anger↔liver, overthinking↔spleen, grief↔lung, fear↔kidney. Calming the mind is part of the routine — not extra credit.
Digestion runs everything
When digestion is sluggish, fluids don't move and the body feels heavy. Warm cooked food, regular meals, never overeat.
Stillness & movement
A few minutes of seated calm daily + gentle movement. This is why the year includes daily practice, not just products.
Drain dampness first, then build.
